Tell us a little bit about Trek America, what makes your company unique? Are you an adventure travel company?
TrekAmerica has been operating adventure camping tours in North America for over 33 years. The tours are small-group adventures (maximum of 13 people, plus one full-time guide) and range from 7-64 days in duration. We are self-sufficient, as we provide camping equipment (tents, cooking stoves and gear) and travel in new 15-passenger maxi-vans. We explore the national parks as well as the big cities, with fun activities throughout the tour including hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, bungee jumping, white water rafting and many, many others.

Our clients love the national parks- especially Yosemite, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. We take you to the best camping grounds (and even lodges with our Footloose Lodging Tours). Our guides know the local conditions, the ideal trails, places to view wildlife, as well as where to view incredible sunsets and sunrises. Additionally, one of the highlights on many of our tours is the visit to Monument Valley. Over the years, we have cultivated a strong relationship with many Navajo families and are able to spend the night camping with them inside the sacred valley. They offer our groups a guided tour and explanation of many of the sacred sites, as well as show us places otherwise impossible to visit without a Navajo guide.
Have you seen an increase in people looking for adventure trips?
That is correct, many more people are seeking out adventure travel opportunities. We have increased our destinations from Alaska, Canada, the continental USA, and Mexico to Central and South America, as well as Australia and New Zealand. We expect to take over 10,000 people on adventure trips this year.
For some of those who want to get way off the beaten path, do you have any tips on new exciting destinations?
Sure, I would suggest that your readers check out some of our tours in South America. In particular, the Patagonia Explorer will take you to such incredible places as Torres del Paine National Park where one can see condors circling feet overhead to the sound of calving glaciers in the distance. If this is something that appeals to you or your readers, I would suggest visiting our website at Trek America to learn about our new offerings in the region, as well as our exciting programs in North America.
