Where did you go? How many days? What was the number of people?
This was part of a Whitsundays/Fraser/Base accomodation package booked through Palace Backpackers, however, this segment can be done alone. This part of the package included two nights at Airlie Beach and two nights on a sailboat. I chose a smaller, less crowded, boat for the Whitsundays portion of my trip, so I paid a little more than you would for bigger boats. There were only seven guests and two crew on the boat. We sailed around the Whitsunday Islands for 3 days, making one or two stops each day to take in the sights, such as Whitehaven Beach, or go snorkeling. We ate and slept on the boat.

The crew was great, and the boat, food, and scenery were gorgeous.

What’s one piece of advice for going on an adventure?
Don’t bring all of your gear on the boat, leave some in storage in Airlie Beach. Quarters are tight on the ship and you don’t need much on a boat for three days. Do make sure you bring enough snacks,beverages if you’re an eater! The crew provides great meals, plenty of water and a few snacks, but I was glad to have a Coke, a box of wine, and a bag of chips/crisps with me.

What was your guide like? What was his name?
We had two crew members/guides. It turned that out I am afraid of sailing, but the crew was incredibly nice and understanding. They knew a lot about the area and were skillful sailors, navigating us safely back home when a gale blew in.
