Every other week we take the opportunity to highlight one of the many awesome adventure trips we offer here at BootsnAll. We have been lucky enough to partner with Global Basecamps to offer some amazing trips for adventure travelers of all types.
This week’s featured trip is in Vietnam and explores one its most visited sites – Halong Bay. Off the Beaten Track in Halong Bay offers travelers the chance to get away from all the crowds and have a more peaceful experience in one of the world’s most impressive sites.
It is necessary to use a guide to visit Halong Bay (unless you have your own boat in Vietnam, that is), and finding a good tour is one of the most time consuming and frustrating parts about visiting this amazing place. If you wait until you arrive in Hanoi to book your tour, you will be overwhelmed by the number of options available. Not only that, but since these types of things aren’t regulated by the government, it’s difficult to choose a tour that isn’t going to overcharge you and end up being a bad experience.
There are definitely plenty of reputable companies in Vietnam offering tours, but the problem lies with the system. The most popular tour companies are mirrored by other, more shady companies. These not-so-honest companies will replicate both the name and logo of the best companies. So it’s not uncommon to see 5 different tour companies named Ocean Tours. Choosing the original, best, and most reputable company can be difficult and confusing.
If you want a peace of mind before leaving on your trip, consider booking our trip. This 3 day trip through Halong Bay gives travelers the opportunity of seeing the best of Halong Bay without having to worry about quality. You will board a private boat (called a junk) to take you through some of the lesser visited areas in the bay. You will have the opportunity to explore these quieter parts of the bay by kayak. You will also check out Cong Do, one of the lesser visited caves in the area. Sleeping on the junk in the bay is quite the experience, and watching the sun set from the top of your boat, with limestone cliffs jutting out of the water is something you’ll always remember.
