Safari and Canvas Tanzania - Classic

Although Tanzania boasts some of the world’s most beautiful lodges, for a true safari experience nothing can compare to spending the night in a canvas tent close to the wildlife and the beautiful Serengeti night sky. If you love nature and the great outdoors (and we do mean Great!) than the Safari and Canvas itinerary is for you: safari by day, camp by night and truly interact with Tanzania's incredibly unique environment throughout your entire stay.

This budget option includes a drive from Arusha into the Serengeti National Park, not a flight, so that you can explore the Northern Tanzanian landscape on the ground.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha

Meet at the airport/Arusha arrival point and transfer to your lodge for pre-safari briefing. Optional craft market or visit to one of Arusha assistance projects.

Overnight: Ahadi Lodge (Dinner included)

Day 2 - Arusha - Serengeti

After early breakfast, we are transferred straight
into the heart of the Serengeti! Together with our
guide, we set off to explore these great plains.
Criss-crossed with forested riverine valleys, the
Serengeti plays home to millions of Africa’s large
mammals, making this one of the world’s famous
wildlife destinations.

Overnight: Nasikia Central Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Day 3 - Serengeti

All day game drive in Serengeti. Best time for the
wildebeest migration is Dec to June but there are
spectacular wildlife sights at anytime of year.

Overnight: Nasikia Central Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Day 4 - Serengeti

Once again, we can set out for an all day game
drive – or choose to take an early morning game
drive before returning for lunch and a short rest.
In the mid-afternoon, we set off again in search of
the predators beginning their night stalking.

Overnight: Nasikia Central Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Day 5 - Serengeti - Ngorongoro

Further game drive in Serengeti and then on to the
Ngorongoro Crater. Lunch en-route at Olduvai
Gorge and a view of the archaeological sites (and
visit the museum) where early human tools and
fossils have been found. Continue onto campsite
on Ngorongoro crater rim for overnight.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Campsite (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Day 6 - Ngorongoro - Manyara

Ngorongoro is collapsed volcano - an incredible
natural amphitheatre, 25 km across and teeming
with all of the African big game.
Early morning descent into the crater for
spectacular scenery and game viewing in what has
been described as the eighth wonder of the world.
In late afternoon, we transfer to atop the Manyara
Escarpment for overnight.

Overnight: Panorama Campsite (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)

Day 7 - Manyara - Arusha

We enjoy a morning walk before transferring back
to Arusha.

Overnight: Onward travel to Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam is possible. (Breakfast and Lunch included)
