Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Bogota

Take a breath after arriving and spend some time in the massive and cosmopolitan capital of Colombia. Spend your first night in Colombia recovering from your long flight and taking some time to adjust to the altitude (2600 meters high).

Day 2 - Bogota

Soak up the cultural scene in the colonial old quarter, take part in a walking or bike tour around the city, visit museums and galleries.

Day 3 - Zipaquira Cathedral

Today you will embark on a daytrip to the biggest salt cathedral on the planet, near Bogota in the town of Zipaquira. Visit this fascinating landmark and discover the history behind this how this salt mine turned in to a chapel.

Day 4 - Bogota - Casanare

Today you will head for the airport for your departure flight to Yopal. After landing you will be driven through spectacular scenery on your way to the Natural Reserve located in Casanare. The area is a sublime bird and puma sanctuary with overwhelming variety of bird species, plants and animals. You will stay in a traditional hacienda for your time on the reserve.

Day 5 - Casanare

Explore this area of cowboy country on horse back and learn about the lifestyle of the traditional Colombian cowboys. Expect to see wild deer, around 30 different bird species, small crocodiles, Chiguiros (massive gunny pigs) and - if you are lucky enough - you may spot wild pumas!

Overnight: Los Llanos Natural Reserve (All Meals included)

Day 6 - Casanare - Bogota

Today you will make your way back to Yopal for your flight back to Bogota.
