Southern Thailand: 7 Days of Forest and Beaches

If temples and mountain trekking don’t excite and you are looking for a combination of relaxation and tropical adventure then this is the tour for you.
The south of Thailand offers a fantastic combination of unspoilt beaches, pristine seas, diving and snorkeling, canoeing and jungle walking.
This tour gives you the opportunity to experience one of the best national parks in Thailand - Khao Sok with local guides, indigenous to the region, to provide an insight into the diverse flora and fauna. For beach lovers, the trip takes you to the less developed beaches where you get a chance to paddle your own canoe through caves in Krabi and glide above the sea life as you snorkel the bays. We encourage you to leave the rainforest and coast the way you found it, in order to preserve it for everyone else.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Bangkok

Transfer to your hotel in Bangkok, meeting with your local leader for tour briefing.

Overnight: Ariyasom Villa(Breakfast included)

Day 2 - Bangkok - City Tour

We will leave in the morning after breakfast for our city tour of Bangkok. Bangkok is gaining recognition for its art, culture, food, shopping, hospitality and affordability. The city combines some of Asia’s oldest and most elaborately adorned temples with modern shopping malls and skyscrapers – a city that packs in so many sights and attractions you won’t know where to begin. However, your friendly and knowledgeable local guide will give you a helping hand and introduce you to some of Bangkok’s most famous sights - including the impressive Grand Palace (former residence of the Thai monarchy), Wat Phra Kaew (home of the Emerald Buddha) and Wat Po (housing Thailand’s largest reclining Buddha.

Rather than sitting on a tour bus, we will travel like a local using a number of varied transport options. See life from the river aboard a klong (or canal) boat or the city from above on the elevated BTS or Skytrain.

After the temple tour we head into China town for lunch along Thanong Yaowarat and Thanong Charoen Krung, the main China town arteries. Many of the buildings in this district are designated historical landmarks as Chinatown is home to many fine examples of the architecture of Bangkok's early years. The area will leave you feeling like you have been transported back in time.

The rest of the day can be spent exploring the many first class shopping malls, heading to a gallery or museum, treating yourself to a foot massage or chilling by the pool.

Overnight: Ariyasom Villa (Breakfast included)

Day 3 - Khao Sok National Park – Elephant Hills Tented camp

After an early breakfast we take our transfer to Suvanibaumi airport for our flight to the southern province of Surat Thani. On arrival we will be driven to Khao Sok National Park (the drive to Khao Sok is approximately 3 hours). The park is acknowledged as one of Thailand’s most spectacular National Parks, with its dramatic limestone karst scenery, lakes, waterfalls and lush jungle. We’ll then check in to our comfortable tented accommodation at Elephant Hills. After lunch we canoe down the Sok river, where you will paddle yourself along the river lined with thick jungle and towering limestone cliffs. You need to keep alert and look out for kingfishers, egrets, bulbuls, flowerpeckers, sunbirds, monkeys and monitor lizards which are often seen along the banks.

Back at camp, you’ll have the ‘elephant experience’ and a chance to get close to and hands on with these magnificent animals. You will interact with them and learn the secrets of their mahouts, feed them, scrub and clean and watch them bathe.
The day finishes with a homegrown Thai dinner accompanied by a traditional dance show

Overnight: Elephant Hills Tented Camp (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included)

Day 4 - Khao Sok National Park – Railay in Krabi

After breakfast, it’s walking boots on and off for a jungle trek in the surrounding forest of the camp where lunch will be prepared and cooked over an open fire.
We then return and get ready for our goodbyes and the transfer to the beautiful beach of Railay in Krabi province.
Once on the beach you will have time for a swim and to feel the sand between your toes before heading out for a beachside dinner

Overnight: Railay Bay Resort and Spa(Breakfast included)

Day 5 - Railay

Today we take a trip out to Hong Island which is one of a group of islands an hour north of Krabi. Pelay Beach is a pristine beach with fine white sand, colorful coral and a myriad of varieties of tropical fish. The beach is framed by limestone rock formations and is less visited than many of the other local islands providing a deserted island feeling. The name comes from an eroded group of caves in the middle of the island which harbours a large lake with a small passage to the sea. When the tide is high long tail boats are able to enter the ‘room’ and you can swim in the crystal clear waters.

Koh Hong is another collection point for the nests that provide the ingredients for bird’s nest soup. You can witness the fascinating sight of young men shimmying up bamboo poles to great heights to collect these nests, genuinely risking life and limb in pursuit of their income. We will take a transfer to Ao Nang by longtail boat and after a short swim and relax on the beach you’ll be shown how to paddle your canoe before being taken on a guided tour of the national park. We’ll have lunch on the beach followed by time for some snorkeling.

Overnight: Railay Bay Resort and Spa(Breakfast included)

Day 6 - Railay - Phi Phi

After breakfast this morning we head off by boat to the gorgeous Koh Phi Phi Island. Despite the fact that Phi Phi was made famous by the movie “The Beach”, it remains an idyllic, tropical island. Once we have checked in to the hotel, the rest of the day is free for you to do as you please and explore this island gem.

For land-based activities, we suggest a walk up to the view point to see some stunning vistas of Phi Phi and the neighbouring islands. If you are a sea lover than the snorkeling from Long Beach is fantastic and you don't have to go very far to see the colourful fish and underwater habitat. Additionally around 200m from the beach there's a rock that just breaks the surface called Shark Point. Here you'll find black-tip reef sharks from 40cm to 1.2m swimming around the reef. During the day when there are lots of boats around they're hard to find but before 9am and after 5pm they're easily spotted.

Overnight: Phi Phi Island Beach Village Resort (Breakfast included)

Day 7 - Koh Phi Phi

Today we will visit some of the best snorkeling spots round Phi Phi such as Bamboo Island and Mosquito Island. You can expect to see a wide variety of tropical fish like parrot and clown fish and you may even be lucky enough to see the harmless but impressive leopard shark. We’ll take a picnic and have lunch on a secluded bay before returning to Phi Phi for our final night and farewell dinner on the beach.

Overnight: Phi Phi Island Beach Village Resort (Breakfast and Lunch included)

Day 8 - Koh Phi Phi - Bangkok

Depending on the flight schedule we’ll get the boat to Krabi and then transfer to the airport for our flight back to Bangkok.
Our tour finishes today on arrival at Bangkok airport.
