The Southern Charm trip is perfect for those who want a quick escape from Marrakech. Once picked up, you'll head down south along the Draa Valley and into Zagora and into the Erg Chigaga region of the Sahara Desert. From there, it's a drive through some of Morocco's most spectacular scenery before arriving in Taroudant. Then, it's off to Morocco's laid-back coastal town of Essaouira before returning back to the Red City of Marrakech.
This tour is not available in July and August.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Marrakech - Zagora
Today, you will be picked up in the morning in Marrakech and travel over the High Atlas Mountains and through the Draa Valley. Soon thereafter is Zagora where you'll be staying in a lovely bed and breakfast. Total travel time today is 6 hours.
Overnight: Villa Zagora (Dinner included)
Day 2 - Tamegroute - Mhamid - Erg Chigaga
Today, you'll continue two more hours on your Morocco tour along the road to M'hamid. Along the way, you'll be able to visit holy town of Tamegroute, known for its library with ancient manuscripts, and green pottery. Then, it's two more hours off road to Erg Chigaga, where you will arrive to our camp site where you can enjoy a camel ride at sunset. Then, prepare for a surreal night under the stars. Dinner will be served al fresco and you'll be sleeping in a rustic Bedouin-style tent. Total travel time today is 4 hours.
Day 3 - Iriki - Taroudant
Following your stay in the Sahara Desert of Erg Chigaga, you'll continue through rocky desert and cliff-laden terrain before going through Iriki and Tata and eventually to Taroudant. Total travel time today is 7 hours.
Overnight: Kasabat Annour (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Day 4 - Taroudant - Essaouira
Afer leaving Taroudant, you'll head a short distance to Essaouira before being able to relax on the beach, try kite surfing or wind boarding, or simply enjoy exploring the medina filled with wood craftsworkers. Total travel time today is 3 hours.
Overnight: Ryad Watier (Breakfast included)
Day 5 - Essaouira - Marrakech
Following breakfast, you'll head back to the Red City of Marrakech and be dropped off at your hotel or riad. We hope you enjoyed this off-the-beaten path journey!
