Morocco Eco Sahara Tour

One of our latest and greatest itineraries, this Morocco holiday combines all that we know, love, and wish to share with visitors to the southern region of Morocco. This trip is ideal for those with five to ten days available. Start from Marrakesh by heading south to the lesser-visited region of the Sahara Desert before heading to Taraoudant and the Eco Lodge near Agadir. From here, you can head over to the coastal town of Essaouira before returning to Marrakesh. We can arrange accommodation along with a guide in Marrakesh before or after this trip if needed.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakesh Arrival - Zagora

After departing Marrakesh and heading over the Tizi N Tichka mountain pass and heading to Ouarzazate. You'll also have an opportunity to stop at the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. Then, you'll continue down the lush Draa Valley before ending the day in Zagora. Travel time: 6 hours

Overnight: Villa Zagora (Dinner included)

Day 2 - Zagora - Erg Chigaga Sahara Desert

Today, you'll head two hours south and then two hours off road to reach the Erg Chigaga region of the Sahara Desert. This remote region is quite stunning and rustic. Tonight is spent dining al fresco under the Sahara stars before sleeping in a Bedouin-style tent. Dinner is included. Travel Time: 4 hours

Overnight Accommodation: Deluxe Bedouin-style Tent

Day 3 - Iriki - Tata - Taroudant

Today, you'll have breakfast and head up to Taroudant through this impressive region of Morocco. The drive is long today, but the scenery is stupendous. Dinner is included. Travel Time: 7 hours

Overnight: La Gazelle dOr (Breakfast, Dinner included)

Day 4 - Taroudant - Agadir

Today's short travel takes you to Agadir, Morocco's sun capital; boasting 320 days of sunshine per year. And, with all the recent flights from European capitals, it is doing nothing but booming. However, you will be outside of all the commotion and be able to enjoy a relaxed stay and take surfing lessons, whether you're a beginner or not. Dinner is included. Travel time today is two hours.

Day 5 - Agadir

A day dedicated to cycling, a walking tour, or going to the beach (or nothing at all!). Let us know at the time of booking what activities you might most be interested in doing. It does not have to be set in stone, but will give us an idea of what we should prepare. Lunch and dinner are included.

Day 6 - Agadir - Essaouira

From Agadir, you'll head to one of Morocco's most laid back regions, Essaouira (pronounced Essa-Wear-ah). Travel time is 2 hours. The beach here is also nice for walks, although the wind can strike up at any time; this is Morocco's (and North Africa's) wind capital. During this season, wind surfers and kite surfers from all over Europe come down to enjoy the sport. The town is mesmerizing and has the best fish in the country. Dinner is included.

Day 7 - Essaouira - Marrakesh Departure

Villa Zagora

Atlas Kasbah

The Atlas Kasbah Ecolodge in Morocco is the first eco-friendly accommodation in the Argan Biosphere Reserve, a Unesco World Heritage. It is located in the High Atlas Mountains yet only 20 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Agadir.

Opened in 2009, the Atlas Kasbah Ecolodge was granted both the prestigious Responsible Tourism Award from the Ministry of Tourism of Morocco and the international Green Key Ecolabel from King Mohamed VI Foundation for the Environment. Riad Lotus O Marine

Riad Lotus O Marine is a beautiful addition to the Riad Lotus line of hotels in Essaouira. Easy to find and central to the city, this building's design is a fascinating mix between Indo-Syrian and Art Deco of the 20th century. A wonderful view of the Atlantic is available from the rooftop terrace and detail oriented staff make sure this five room boutique hotel is always ready to receive guests in the most clean and professional manner.
