Classic Gorilla Fest

This itinerary takes you from arrival in Entebbe, where you don't waste any time in heading directly into wilderness. From the varied and colorful wildlife of Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will venture into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to stay at a lodge where silverback gorillas have been known to literally knock on your room's front door. The hikes to see the closely tracked families of gorillas here vary from one to six hours, but they are always worth it. Enjoy a full day of interacting face to face with these peaceful creatures.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Entebbe Arrival - Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meet on arrival at the airport, start for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Stop at the equator for photography - and an amazing experience. Proceed to the park with views of plains, hilly landscapes and the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range for most of the journey. Enter the park, keeping an eye out for game where you may be rewarded with views of Waterbucks, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species. After lunch, you have an option to go for a boat cruise or have an evening game drive (depending on time and weather). The boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel passes through high concentrations of Hippos and a wide variety of animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This river cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 600 recorded species having been spotted. Dinner and overnight accommodation Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 2 - Queen Elizabeth National Park - Bwindi

An early morning rise with a cup of your favorite beverage , embark on a morning game drive along Kasenyi track and Queens mile in the park and keep a watch out for Lion, Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Warthogs, Leopard, Hyena, Mongoose, Waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, and lots of the many small animals and birds. After the game drive, proceed to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you drive along the road via Ishasha sector (famous for it's tree climbing Lions) you should see a multitude of animals. Arrive at the camp late afternoon, relax around the camp, with dinner and overnight accommodation at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp.

Day 3 - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

There is an early morning entry into the gorilla sanctuary. The rainforest is spectacular, heavily vegetated and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for trekkers. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas, where the time taken and terrain varies according to the movements of these fantastic apes. The thrill of spending time with and observing these gentle giants is a rare and moving adventure that will leave you with long-lasting memories of a truly unique experience. The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with each other. Return for dinner and overnight accommodation at the Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp.

Day 4 - Bwindi - Entebbe Departure

Either transfer to the airstrip in time for your charter flight to Kampala (flight would be on payment of supplement) or an early drive through beautiful hills and valleys, interact with the long horned Ankole cattle on the road, lunch en-route and proceed to Kampala Airport in Entebbe. Transfer to the airport in time for your return flight.
