Itinerary

Day 1 Johannesburg

Discover South Africa's commercial heart.

Days 2-3 Kruger National Park

Enjoy amazing views from Blyde River Canyon en route to the enormous Kruger. Drive across the plains and try to spot Africa's most famous wildlife.

Day 4 Polokwane Game Reserve

Look out for white rhinos and perhaps a shy antelope at dusk.

Day 5 Nata region

Cross the Limpopo River into Botswana. At tonight's campsite try to spot furry bush babies high up in the trees.

Day 6 Chobe National Park

See the mesmerising Makgadikgadi Pans stretch endlessly across the horizon. Take a Chobe River boat safari to spot fish eagles, elephants and hippos.

Days 7-8 Livingstone/Victoria Falls

It's thrilling to hear the roar of these magnificent falls, known to locals as 'the smoke that thunders'. Adrenaline lovers can enjoy a range of optional adventure sports.

Days 9-10 Lusaka

Cross Zambia's heartland.

Day 11 Luwawa Forest Lodge

Cycle, walk, canoe or fish in Malawi's tranquil northern forest. Enjoy village hospitality among some of Africa's friendliest people.

Days 12-13 Lake Malawi

Experience tranquility on secluded beaches beside the lake's shimmering waters.

Days 14-15 Chitimba/Iringa

Head towards Tanzania's southern highlands.

Days 16-17 Dar es Salaam

Look out for elephants and giraffes roaming Mikumi National Park. Camp on a beach beside the Indian Ocean.

Days 18-20 Zanzibar

Catch a ferry to the fragrant spice plantations, intriguing cobbled bazaars and balmy beaches of Zanzibar.

Day 21 Dar es Salaam

Return to camp at our beach outside Dar es Salaam.

Days 22-23 Usambara Mountains

Forge into these lush, remote mountains, one of Tanzania's least explored and most unspoilt regions. Meet affable villagers and enjoy a farm-fresh picnic.

Day 24 Marangu

Experience farming life among the Chagga people and tuck into a delicious lunch of local produce. Take in spectacular views of the plains from the nearby waterfalls.

Days 25-26 Mto Wa Mbu

See how the Amani Children's Home is creating a bright future for former street kids. Tour a village to find out more about the day-to-day lives of rural communities.

Days 27-28 Serengeti National Park

Roam the Serengeti's endless, acacia-dotted savannah. Try to spot the Big Five and camp deep in the park, surrounded by sounds of nocturnal creatures.

Day 29 Ngorongoro Crater/Karatu

Enjoy a thrilling game drive, through this lush volcanic crater.

Day 30 Nairobi

Celebrate the journey in cosmopolitan Nairobi.
