Rift Valley Adventure

Watch captivating Africa unfurl before your eyes as you travel from glamorous Nairobi to Zambia's adventure sport capital, Livingstone. Magnificent herds of elephants roam vast savannah plains, golden sunlight warms powdery sand and turquoise waters, and huge clouds of spray fill the air as the mighty Zambezi crashes over Victoria Falls. But it's the warm welcome from the people you'll encounter that will make this 24-day adventure so memorable.

Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi

Begin the journey in cosmopolitan Nairobi.

Days 2-3 Mto Wa Mbu/Karatu

Travel to Arusha, a pleasant town nestled beneath the brooding Mt Meru. Camp in a Tanzanian village then spend the next morning exploring it with a local guide.

Days 4-5 Serengeti National Park

Embark on a safari adventure in the famous Serengeti grasslands, named after the Masai word for 'the place where the land moves on forever'. Spotting wild African animals for the first time is an unforgettable thrill.

Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater/Karatu

Explore the crater's depths and try to spot a variety of iconic African animals in the lush surrounds.

Day 7 Marangu

At the Amani Children's Home, meet former street kids. Tour a farming village on Kilimanjaro's slopes to experience rural life - and a locally harvested meal.

Days 8-9 Usambara Mountains

Meet the welcoming locals who live in the verdant and peaceful Usambara Mountains. Work up an appetite for a delicious lunch with a walk to the nearby lookout.

Day 10 Dar es Salaam

Pass the snow-dusted silhouette of Mt Kilimanjaro and camp on a warm beach just outside Dar es Salaam.

Days 11-13 Zanzibar

Step off the ferry and into a spice-scented island paradise. Wander charming streets packed with exotic architecture, tour spice plantations and relax on white sands beside the Indian Ocean.

Day 14 Dar es Salaam

Return to the mainland for another night of beachside camping.

Days 15-16 Iringa/Chitimba

Head for Malawi, travelling through the Mikumi National Park where giraffes are often seen munching on acacia foliage.

Days 17-18 Lake Malawi

Pitch camp on a peaceful stretch of sand. Enjoy this freshwater wonderland with a swim, some watersports or a laze on the shore.

Days 19-20 Luwawa Forest Lodge

Go for peaceful strolls, get energetic with canoeing or mountain biking and meet the friendly locals.

Days 21-22 Chipata/Lusaka

Travel through rural villages and over the Luangwa River.

Days 23-24 Livingstone/Victoria Falls

End this adventure on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. Be sure to visit the nearby Victoria Falls, a breathtaking natural wonder.
