Itinerary
Days 1-2 Kathmandu
Visit the fascinating medieval town of Bhaktapur, the 'Monkey Temple' of Swayambhunath and the atmospheric cremation ghats at Pashupatinath. Take a walk through the heart of the Old City to historic Durbar Square, home to the palace of the Kumari Devi, who is considered to be a living goddess. Explore the fascinating accommodation - a haven of historic relics, carved wood and intricate terracotta work.
Days 3-4 Pokhara
Drive to Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside destination set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. The town sits on what was once a vibrant trade route between India and Tibet and even now mule trains can be seen camped on the outskirts of town, bringing in goods from remote Himalayan regions. Soak up the magnificent views from Sarangkot, visit Devi Falls and take a boat trip on Lake Phewa. Take the opportunity to help the Tibetan cause by buying gifts and handicrafts at the Tibetan Refugee Camp.
Days 5-6 Chitwan National Park
Home to the endangered Bengal tiger and the one-horned rhino, Chitwan National Park offers the possibility of close encounters with wildlife in their natural habitat. Take an elephant safari through the verdant jungle to experience a lost world of ancient trees and tangled vines. Stay in a beautiful lodge and wake in the mornings to the sound of forest birds. Enjoy a traditional dance performance by the Tharu tribe.
Days 7-8 Kathmandu
Return to Kathmandu. Perhaps take a final shopping expedition or turn the prayer wheels with other devotees
