Day 1 Paris

This magical city has so much to offer those who arrive early. Why not scale the Eiffel Tower or get acquainted with the city's cultural treasures.

Days 2-3 Dijon/Beaune

Graced with Romanesque architecture and some of the best wines in the country, the Burgundy region is a pleasure to explore. Feast on local delicacies in Beaune and visit some world-famous vineyards. Learn about ancient wine-making techniques and perhaps indulge in a glass or two

Days 4-5 Avignon

Travel by train to this picturesque town, which was the residence of French-born popes for more than a century. Marvel at the world's largest Gothic palace, the Palais des Papes, and the remains of the 12th-century Pont St-Benezet.

Days 6-8 Nice/Monaco

Take a day trip to Monaco to live it up with Europe's high rollers - the famed Monte Carlo casino is a great place to start. Alternatively, escape the glitz and find a patch on the Riviera to relax by the sea. Travel back to Nice and enjoy some free time to explore the region, maybe visiting the nearby cliff-top village of Eze.

Days 9-10 Cinque Terre

With mountains above and the sea below, the coastal path that connects the five pastel villages is spectacular. Delight in the surrounding olive groves and vineyards, and relish the site's absolute serenity. Spend some time exploring La Spezia, perhaps taking the opportunity to browse the collection at the local gallery. Finish the day by taking a dip in the ocean or by dining on fresh seafood by the waterfront.

Days 11-13 Florence/Pisa

Be astonished by the remarkable Leaning Tower, then peruse the fountains, statues and buildings of Italy's 'outdoor museum'. Take in the best of Florence, including Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio and the 13th-century Duomo, before witnessing an unforgettable sunset over the city's skyline from Piazza Michelangelo. Experience some famous Tuscan hospitality during a visit to a local winery and enjoy a leisurely lunch - the perfect chance to sample the region's delicious olive oils and excellent wines.

Days 14-15 Rome

Both hectic and relaxed, the Eternal City is home to some of the most amazing sights in Europe. Wander the city's lively streets on a self-guided walking tour that concludes at the iconic Colosseum. A final dinner brings this classic journey to an end.
