Itinerary

Days 1-2 Prague

Be transported back in time by the architectural extravagance of the Czech capital. Climb the tower on the Charles Bridge for breathtaking views over the spire-studded skyline, and wander down the famed Golden Lane in Prague Castle. The changing of the guard at the castle gates is another great experience and can be caught every hour, on the hour. The Old Town is spectacular in the evening and buzzes with restaurants, jazz bars and traditional beer halls.

Day 3 Cesky Krumlov

This medieval town is home to the magical Krumlov Castle. After exploring the warren of crooked streets on a guided tour, consider whiling away the afternoon in the castle complex, inspecting the vivid mural in the Masquerade Hall and the treasures of the Baroque theatre. Don't miss climbing up the fairytale tower in the courtyard for spectacular views across the terracotta rooftops.

Days 4-5 Vienna

Stroll the Ringstrasse for a tantalising taste of the City of Music. Wander the manicured grounds of Schonbrunn Palace and take in the view from the Gloriette Monument. Visit the Museum Quarter or walk to St Stephens Cathedral to marvel at the latticework spire. Perhaps cap off a wonderful day with an evening at the opera.

Days 6-8 Budapest

With a wealth of culture and magnificent buildings on the banks of Europe's most beautiful river, the 'Pearl of the Danube' is aptly nicknamed. Explore the city on a walking tour, then enjoy free time to browse for gifts in a local market. Alternatively, rejuvenate in one of the city's many thermal baths before a hearty Hungarian feast.
