Captivating Cuba

Enjoy a relaxing weeklong adventure immersing yourself in the history and culture of this colourful Caribbean island, together with its friendly residents and natural environment. Imminent political and cultural change make it something to experience now before it evolves. Wander through Havana?s glittering colonial architecture, soak up the clear mountain air amongst Soroa?s vibrant mountain orchards, relax on Playa Ancon?s vast white beaches and admire Trinidad?s unrivaled ambience. From old cars to fragrant cigars and with plenty of salsa in-between, this trip has it all and is the perfect introduction to all things Cuban.

Itinerary

Day 1 Havana

The best way to see Havana's colonial buildings, elegant plazas, vintage cars and cigar-smoking musicians is by foot. Visit the Plaza de la Revolucion and pass the giant monuments paying homage to legends Che Guevara and Jose Marti. The striking Baroque facade of San Cristobal de la Habana Cathedral is a must-see.

Days 2-3 Vinales

Tour the vibrant orchid gardens of Soroa en route to the charming village of Vinales. One of Cuba's most attractive areas, the fertile valleys and distinctive limestone 'pin-cushion' hills are well worth exploring. Mix with the friendly Vinales locals and dance the night away.

Days 4-5 Trinidad

Take time to explore the Spanish-style churches then head to Ancon Beach, an unspoilt stretch of sand where the hours slip lazily by. Otherwise, why not snorkel over Cuba's colourful underwater world or hire a bike for a relaxing pedal around town. Practise salsa moves at one of Trinidad's famous music venues or admire the rhythm of the locals while sipping a minty mojito.

Day 6 Cienfuegos

Head to stately Jose Marti Park and perhaps climb the cathedral's tower for stunning coastal views over the town, known locally as the Pearl of the South. Stop by the Palacio de Valle, the architectural pride of Cienfuegos. For a local pick-me-up why not try a Cuban coffee - it's served strong, black and super-sweet.

Days 7-8 Havana

Stop in at Santa Clara to visit the Che Guevara mausoleum and learn about his life and legend - don't miss seeing the impressive bronze statue of Che bearing his rifle. Back in Havana, there is time for a final night of salsa.
