Everest via Gokyo

Everest Base Camp is the destination and Gokyo is the journey - this is one trip where it is difficult to decide which is best. Follow steep rocky paths through a region of pristine lakes and shimmering glaciers, etched against a backdrop of towering, snow-capped mountains. Witness crystal-clear mornings, dense rhododendron forests and delightful villages. Add the sights and culinary delights of Kathmandu, the friendly local people and the awesome sense of achievement and you have an adventure to always remember.

Days 3-17 Everest/Gokyo Trek

From a gentle rise through rhododendron and magnolia forests to an arduous climb to Everest Base Camp, this 15-day trek on Everest will test the character and delight the senses. Traverse the glorious Gokyo region, rising along narrow staircases and steep passes, to take in the five stunning lakes. Stop along the way in remote and vibrant market towns and retire each evening in simple, yet comfortable, teahouses. Relish the moment of standing at the base of Everest, the highest point of the world, and then descend through plains filled with yak herders and their charges.
