Experience the wild beauty of the Kimberley on this three-day coastal getaway. Visit a Bardi community and learn how to rustle up some bush tucker, then feast on a traditional outback feed of billy tea and damper. Soak up some sun on a white sandy Cape Leveque beach, or explore the colourful sea life on a snorkelling expedition. Witness the treacherous tidal flows of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Travel to well-known sights and discover hidden treasures of this extraordinary, remote part of Australia where often things are not what they seem.
Days 1-2 Broome/Cape Leveque
Head for the Dampier Peninsula along rugged 4x4 tracks. Discover Dreamtime legends on a guided bushwalk through traditional Bardi ‘saltwater country’. Camp at Cape Leveque and fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves. Next day, join a snorkelling, fishing or sea kayaking adventure. Alternatively, take it easy on the beaches that make the cape famous. Enjoy a flame-grilled dinner then sleep under the Kimberley sky.
Day 3 One Arm Point/Broome
Journey to the One Arm Point community, perched on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula and witness the Buccaneer ArchipelagoÂ’s huge tidal flows. Saltwater crocodiles, sharks and sea snakes make their home here in waters where humans rarely venture. Visit the aquaculture hatchery then enjoy lunch in the gardens of the Lombadina community. Return to Broome where the adventure ends.
