Itinerary

Day 1 Istanbul & Agva

Wander through colourful backstreets, clamber through bustling bazaars and visit the exquisite Topkapi Palace to see how the elite of the Ottoman Empire once lived. Indulge in the world's best Turkish delight or gobble a piping hot kebab before enjoying the sunset over the Byzantine skyline.

Days 2-3 Agva

Just a short distance from the mayhem of Istanbul, this sleepy fishing town really is the hidden gem of the Black Sea coast. Dive into the glistening waters and relax on the tranquil beach then, in the heat of the day, wander to the town markets and visit the renowned fabric merchants. To get the most out of the undisturbed location, hire a bicycle and discover the secluded coves and enticing lagoons nearby or paddle the river in a canoe. Watch the local fishing boats as they ply the harbour then follow the catch of the day to one of the seaside restaurants. The town centre has plenty to offer when you need to escape the hot sun and sand. Cool down with velvety thick ice cream, slurp rich Turkish coffee or play a game of backgammon with the locals.

Day 4 Istanbul

Ease back into city life with a relaxing soak at a hamam or visit a tea garden to bask in the afternoon sun amid nargileh-smoking locals. Take one last stroll through the winding streets to soak up the mystique of the city. Visit Aya Sofya, if you haven't already, and get off the beaten track at the enchanting Rustem Pasa Mosque.
