Itinerary
Days 1-2 Beijing
Visit China and begin this epic rail adventure in bustling Beijing, home to Tiananmen Square and the fascinating Forbidden City. Why not take a day trip to visit the iconic Great Wall of China.
Days 3-6 Ulaanbaatar/Nomad Camp
Explore Ulaanbaatar's mix of shops and cafes or witness a mystical ceremony at Gandan Khiid, Mongolia's largest monastery. Enjoy a night of traditional accommodation sleeping in a ger tent.
Days 15-16 Moscow
Russia's capital Moscow offers a treasure trove of sights, from the endless array of jewels and weapons in the Kremlin Armoury to the iconic Red Square and Lenin's Mausoleum. See sunlight glinting off Moscow's golden-domed buildings, orthodox churches sitting squarely alongside Soviet icons and piles of trinkets at the Izmaylovo Market. In free time be sure to head to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, on the banks of the Moskva River.
Days 7-10 Ulan Ude/Lake Baikal
Unwind in Ulan Ude, a hillside Buryat city that is home to numerous Buddhist temples. Hike along the shores of the world's deepest lake. Follow the locals' lead and after enjoying the great outdoors, hit the banya for an end-of-day steam.
Days 13-14 Kungur
Take in the dramatic scenery, ranging from dense taiga to vast industrial Russian cities. Arrive at Kungur and choose to visit a local museum or nearby ice caves.
Days 11-12 Trans-Siberian Railway
Travel through five time zones on a journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway - the world's longest train line.
Days 17-18 St Petersburg
Get lost among the artistic treasures and imperial interiors of the State Hermitage Museum or escape the tourist trail on a walking tour of the backstreets of St Petersburg. Either way, this city is sure to delight.
