Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport, where having cleared customs and immigration and collected your luggage you will be met in the arrivals hall by our representative. He will be your first contact and will assist you with your luggage and check-in for your connecting flight with Air Botswana to Maun . Upon arrival at Maun airport you will be greeted by a representative of Delta Air in the Arrivals Hall who will assist you to the light aircraft for your charter flight to Mapula Lodge (a flight of about 35 minutes). Mapula Lodge is a situated in the remote North Eastern area of the Okavango Delta. A variety of activities and adventure safaris will allow you to witness and experience the wildlife oasis of the Okavango Delta. Safari accommodation is in luxury chalets with en-suite facilities (bath and shower and flush toilet) and each overlooking the lagoon in front of the Lodge. Great attention to detail and use of local craftsmanship is evident in the construction of the safari accommodation.Day 2 & 3
Mapula Lodge is in the heart of the Okavango Delta - an ideal location for game viewing and birding. Mapula Lodge safari vehicles combine the best of comfort and opportunity for regular game sightings. Your guide will also ensure that you get the best angles for pictures and videos. Your guide is there to answer any questions you have or to confirm sightings. You are encouraged to ask questions about the habitats you visit and the different forms of life they support. You set the pace of the safari. Activities are mokoro excursions (depending on water levels), walking safaris with experienced rangers and night drives in search of nocturnal animals. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are conducted in specially constructed safari vehicles to optimize game viewing and photography. After an early morning game drive and breakfast you will be flown into Pom Pom Camp in a light aircraft. This is in itself a wonderful experience as you will be flying over the Okavango Delta itself and will be able to observe the habitat and wildlife from above. On arrival at the Pom Pom airstrip you will be met by the guide who will accompany you during your stay. At Pom Pom Lodge you will be accommodated in a luxury safari tent with en-suite facilities. After an introduction by the camp manager and a light lunch your guide will take you out on a leisurely mokoro excursion, a magical way of exploring this amazing environment, and which enables you to get very close to the wildlife and birds that congregate at the water’s edge. Dinner is a sumptuous affair complete with fine wines and accompanied by the ’sounds of the Okavango’.Day 5 & 6
An early morning wake-up call before a game drive accompanied by a guide with a wide knowledge of the Okavango and its wildlife. You will return to Pom Pom Lodge for breakfast and a rest for the heat of the day. After lunch your Guide will once again be on hand to take you out on a game viewing excursion – by 4×4 vehicle, mokoro or on foot.Day 7
Another early morning game drive, brunch and then you will be transferred by light aircraft to Maun airport, in time to connect with your return Air Botswana flight departing for Johannesburg
