Day 1 Belize City

Explore this creative capital, and stop by one of the many galleries, shows, or exhibitions in bustling Belize City. Why not do like the locals and head to the Newtown Barracks district - a lively cluster of restaurants and bars overlooking the foreshore.

Days 2-3 San Ignacio

The lush jungle surrounding San Ignacio is full of Maya ruins, icy rivers, spectacular caves and botanic gardens. Explore the jungle and enjoy the range of optional activities, including a day trip to the impressive Maya ceremonial centre Xunantunich, a visit to the Mountain Pine Ridge waterfalls or a trip to the nearby butterfly garden. Back in town, sample the range of barbecue delights at one of the many pavement restaurants - a great way to meet the locals.

Days 4-5 Flores/Tikal

Catch a golden sunrise from the top of the Tikal ruins, then explore the towering pyramids and their jungle surrounds. Find a quiet spot to spy howler monkeys swinging through the canopy and be on the lookout for brightly coloured toucans and macaws darting between the ancient structures. Spend the night camped by the ruins, falling asleep to the sounds of the surrounding jungle.

Days 6-8 Caye Caulker

Discover a laidback Caribbean paradise on this balmy Belizean island. Whether the goal is absolute relaxation or adventurous aquatic activities, Caye Caulker's got all bases covered. Head to the nearby reef to snorkel among schools of multicolored fish, or conquer a fear of the big deep and swim with the sharks in the magnificent Blue Hole. Celebrate the end of this adventure over a beachside lobster feast.
