Itinerary
Day 1 Johannesburg
Begin the journey in South Africa's commercial centre, a sprawling city of green parks and towering skyscrapers, gracious mansions and lively townships. Those who arrive early may want to visit the historic township of Soweto or the Apartheid Museum to learn more about South Africa's history.
Day 2 Khama Rhino Sanctuary
Cross the border into Botswana to witness the success of the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This inspirational conservation project was once a hunting area and is now a haven for endangered black and white rhinos. A dusk game drive may reveal rhinos, wildebeest, zebras and giraffes.
Day 3 Maun
Head north towards Maun, gateway to Botswana's famous delta.
Days 4-5 Okavango Delta
This famous waterway is formed by the Okavango River fanning out into an intricate maze of streams, creating 16,000 sq km of wetlands. With the help of a friendly local, traverse the delta in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe. Camp under the stars in the remote wilderness and rise early for a sunrise walk. With luck, try to catch a glimpse of elephants and cape buffalo.
Day 6 Maun
Visit a rural village to learn firsthand about the local way of life, then return to Maun.
Day 7 Elephant Sands
Home to elephants, antelope, lions and zebras, a game drive through this private conservancy will offer amazing encounters with the animal kingdom.
Days 8-9 Victoria Falls
Enter Zimbabwe and witness the awesome spectacle that is Victoria Falls. The sight of this enormous raging torrent of white water is a fitting finale to the journey.
