Itinerary

Day 1 Malaga

Start the adventure in popular Malaga. Arrive early and explore the sights of this historic city.

Day 2 Chefchaouen

Admire the delightful blue and white buildings of bohemian Chefchaouen, a little piece of Spain in Morocco's Rif mountains.

Days 3-5 Rabat

Dwarfed by the majestic 12th century Hassan tower, cosmpolitan Rabat boasts some impressive examples of Morocccan architecture to explore. Sample some local specialities while enjoying the view of the Atlantic from the Kasbah des Oudaias.

Days 6-8 Volubilis/Fes

Meander along the twisting alleyways of Fes' medieval medina and visit the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis.

Days 9-10 Merzouga

Gaze at the dramatic scenery of the Atlas Mountains en route to the enormous Erg Chebbi dunes. Camp under desert stars, sharing a hearty feast with locals.

Days 19-21 Western Sahara

Travel along the Atlantic coast to Dakhla, a great place for ocean fishing.

Days 22-26 Northern Mauritania

Days 35-36 Dakar

Explore the beaches, museums and marketplaces of vibrant Dakar.

Days 37-38 Bush Camp

Camp out in the wild Senegalese bush.

Days 39-40 Niokolo-Koba National Park

Enjoy game drives through the park's beautiful wilderness, home to an array of animals including hippos, lions, chimpanzees and Derby eland, the world's largest antelope.

Days 41-43 Northern Mali

Journey through the remote areas of the sub-Sahara, some of the most dramatic scenery in West Africa.

Days 44-46 Bamako

Give yourself over to the enticing rhythms of some of West Africa's finest musicians in Bamako's lively club.

Days 47-49 Segou/Sevare

The Niger River is Mali's lifeblood. Stay in Sevare near the lively river port of Mopti and revel in an evening of traditional drumming.

Days 50-51 Timbuktu

Enjoy a guided tour through legendary Timbuktu.

Days 52-54 Niger River Cruise

Journey down the Niger River on local pinasse boats, visiting villages and camping on the riverbanks.
