Itinerary
Days 1-3 Vancouver/Wells Gray Provincial Park
For those who arrive early, Vancouver offers plenty of entertainment, from museums and galleries to parks and beaches. Travel out of the city to Wells Gray Provincial Park, 5,000 square km of wilderness in British Columbia, where there is the option of horse riding or canoeing. Spend evenings camping at a cowboy ranch.Days 4-6 Jasper National Park
Drive through the stunning Cariboo Mountains and beautiful Mt Robson Provincial Park en route to Jasper. Hearts will skip a beat upon seeing Jasper’s palette of snow-white or summer-grey mountains and brilliant turquoise lakes, laced by dense pine forests and colossal glaciers. Spot the Canadian Rockies' Big Five - elk, moose, deer, wolf and bears - as well as coyotes and even mountain lions. Perhaps take a gondola ride to Whistler Mountain, hike the park's trails or go mountain biking in the Valley of Five Lakes.Days 7-9 Banff National Park
Visit Canada's oldest national park; a wonderous collection of valleys and mountain chains formed some 75 million years ago. Traverse the famous Icefields Parkway through breathtaking Rocky Mountain scenery, stopping on the way at the Athabasca Glacier. Ever wanted to hitch a ride in an ice mobile? Here, it's possible. Later, arrive at the Canadian Rockies' lakes region and admire the views. This really is breathtaking, heartbeat-skipping stuff.Days 10-11 Yoho National Park
One of the lesser-known spots in the Canadian Rockies, Yoho shelters Canada's highest waterfall and a wealth of unique plant and animal species. With ice-blue Kicking Horse River flowing through the valley of the same name, and a symphony of lurching peaks, thunderous falls, gleaming glacial lakes and rippling meadows, Yoho is a masterpiece. Get active and tackle white-water rapids or simply relax and enjoy the stunning surrounds.Days 12-14 Glacier National Park/Mt Revelstoke National Park/Vancouver
Discover a national park that is home to over 400 glaciers. Hike through thick cedar forests and alpine meadows and explore a section of temperate inland rainforest near Mt Revelstoke. Return to Vancouver where there is time for sightseeing in historic Gastown, Chinatown or ever-popular Stanley Park.
