Itinerary
Day 1 New York/Philadelphia
Begin with a bang in a city of extremes. Life moves fast in NYC, where big sights, sounds and smells exist in harmony with small treasures. Peruse giants at the Museum of Natural History, gaze over a wealth of artworks in the Met, rub shoulders with hip-cats in the East Village or find a quiet corner in Central Park. Later, venture south to the original capital, Philadelphia. Get up-to-date with USA culture at the Independence National Historic Park, once described as 'America's most historic square mile'.Day 2 Washington DC
The world's talented and ambitious flock to DC, a city boasting a vibrant mix of history, politics and cosmopolitan culture. From the White House, to the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, visitors are offered a number of attractions. See these and more on a leader-led tour around town.Days 3-4 Niagara Falls/Toronto
After admiring the astonishing sight that is Niagara Falls, cross over to Canada. Toronto, situated on Lake Ontario is one of the world's most liveable cities. Explore the city by starting at the CN tower. Toronto Islands are a short ferry ride away and make for a great day out, cycling or strolling around some of the close-knit artist communities on Ward's and Algongquin Island.Day 5 Algonquin Provincial Park
Encompassing a multitude of terrain including swamps, forests, cliffs and beaches, nature lovers will delight in Algonquin Provincial Park. Immerse in the breathtaking surrounds by following a hiking trail or paddling a canoe down the rivers.Day 6 Ottawa
Venturing through pristine wilderness, reach Ottawa, the capital of Canada. The city has wonderful examples of neo-Gothic architecture. There's also the Canadian Museum of Nature, housing an impressive collection of dinosaur fossils from Alberta and an eerily-lifelike series of taxidermy Canadian creatures. The Canadian Museum of Civilization is another highlight - featuring the world's largest indoor collection of totem poles, the building itself is completely rounded, as per aboriginal lore which believes evil spirits reside in nooks.Day 7 Montreal
Combinining more than 80 ethnic communities, Montreal is a multicultural mix of people and cuisines. Grab some nosh at one of the many fine restaurants in the area.Day 8 Quebec
With obvious French influences, Quebec exudes sophistication and style. Walk the cobbled streets, duck down alleyways, gaze at the Le Chateau Frontenac and visit the only walled historical downtown district of North America - Vieux Quebec.Days 9-10 Acadia National Park
New England's only national park contains a bonanza of wildlife and a spectacular array of towering sea cliffs, coastal mountains and tranquil ponds. Nothing beats a sunset kayak tour - the park takes on a moody life of its own at dusk.Day 11 Boston
Find a shady spot to relax in Boston Common, or head to Fanieul Hall marketplace - it's the red-brick building with the grasshopper weathervane.Day 12 Plymouth/Provincetown
Perhaps take to the seas and watch the Plymouth's whales at play or travel to Cape Cod for some saltwater taffy and a seafood lunch. Otherwise, hit one of the beautiful beaches of Provincetown and find a secluded spot of paradise.Day 13 Connecticut
Julia Roberts spent plenty of time here when she made her debut film 'Mystic Pizza'. This old New England fishing village is the place to be for nautical enthusiasts - it boasts the top-notch Mystic Seaport, while Mystic Aquarium houses over 6,000 aquatic species, including penguins, sea lions and even a beluga whale.Day 14 New York
From its Broadway shows to underground rock gigs, street-corner hotdogs to fine dining, designer boutiques to shady parkland, NYC's the place to be. Why not stay a few days extra to see more of this buzzing metropolis.
