Alaskan Adventure

Venture in to the expansive beauty of Alaska's landscape in this Overland Adventure. Formidable mountains, impressive glaciers and magnificent national parks all flourish in North America's nature utopia. Visit some of the continent's highest peaks and glimpse the iconic inhabitants including moose, red foxes, brown bears and bald eagles. By foot, kayak and even dog-sled be part of this travel adventure through the grand, bountiful land of Alaska.


Itinerary

Day 1 Anchorage/Denali National Park

Explore this old railroad-construction port and then travel into the wilderness.

Days 2-3 Denali National Park

Hike, raft or take a scenic flight over Denali. Visit mammoth Mt McKinley - at a formidable 6,154 m, it's North America's tallest mountain.

Day 4 Fairbanks/Delta Junction

Spend a day travelling through Fairbanks to the the last mile post of the Alaska Highway.

Day 5 Kluane National Park & Reserve

Farewell Alaska and enter Canada's Yukon. Camp against a backdrop of gleaming lakes and snow-capped mountains.

Days 6-7 Haines/Skagway

Experience a close encounter with the USA's national emblem at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Take the ferry to Skagway, a historically significant port town from the gold-rush era.

Day 8 Whitehorse/Takhini Hot Springs

Relive the glory days at the White Pass Yukon Route Station - former terminus of the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway - and in free time, try panning for the shiny stuff. Head to Takhini's springs for a relaxing mineral soak.

Days 9-10 Dawson City

Travel to the heart of the Klondike and learn about the gold rush at Bonanza Creek. Why not have a flutter at Diamond Tooth Gertie's gambling hall.

Day 11 Tok

Roll along the Top of the World Highway to head back to Alaska. Camp in the dog-sledding town of Tok.

Days 12-13 Wrangell-St Elias National Park

This park boasts the continent's largest assemblage of glaciers, mountain ranges and peaks above 4,870 m. There is an option to cycle, hike, fish or take a scenic flight. Spend the night camping in nearby MaCarthy, which serves as the base for an exploration into the park.

Days 14-15 Valdez

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline ends in the coastal Valdez, also known as the Switzerland of Alaska. Fish, hike, bike, trek or cruise the Prince William Sound to view the Columbia Glacier.

Day 16 Anchorage

There's time to explore Alaska’s largest city at night or simply rest at the campsite.

Days 17-18 Seward

Look out for the blue ice of Portage Galcier en route to Seward. Take a leisurely cruise around the glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park, admire the Harding Icefield and tidewater glaciers that split into the sea, and follow the road up to spectacular Exit Glacier. In free time, whiz through the cold air on a dog sled or try halibut fishing.

Day 19 Homer

Be enchanted by the ethereal beauty of the Kenai Peninsula. The lakes, glaciers and coastline make for an ethereal nature experience.

Days 20-21 Anchorage

Keep an eye out for beluga whales on the way back to Anchorage, where the adventure concludes.
