Start in Cape Town and the Western Cape: visit the Waterfront Complex, Aquarium and Scratch Patch/Mineral World, followed by a birdÂs eye view of the city from the top of Table Mountain. Enjoy a full-day tour of the Cape Peninsula/Cape Point before heading off to the scenic Cape Winelands for a visit to the Cheetah program at Spier Farm. Travel on to Hermanus and inland to Oudtshoorn in search of Ostrich, then on to Knysna (the heart of the Garden Route) and Plettenberg Bay (for an elephant experience) along the Garden Route. Continue on to the Eastern Cape for a few days of outstanding game viewing on a private Game Reserve before leaving South Africa from Cape Town or Johannesburg.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town, South Africa

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa where you will be met and transferred in a private vehicle to your centrally-situated hotel or guest house. Check-in and spend the rest of the day at leisure resting up after the long flight. Meals on your own account today.

Day 2: Cape Town Waterfront and Table Mountain

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options After breakfast at the hotel/guest house, transfer with your private local guide to the famed Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to enjoy the Two Oceans Aquarium and beautiful gemstones at the Scratch Patch/Mineral World. After lunch on your own account in the Waterfront, your guide will transfer you to the lower Table Mountain cable station for a cable car ride up Table Mountain (weather permitting) to enjoy stunning views from the summit. An alternate visit to Kirstenbosch Gardens will take place if wind/weather conditions close the cable car to Table Mountain. Return by late afternoon to your hotel/guest house for dinner on your own account.

Day 3: Cape Peninsula

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options Depart after breakfast on a privately-guided tour around the Cape Peninsula, traveling via the scenic Atlantic coastline, through Hout Bay (seal island tour) and over ChapmanÂs Peak Drive (if conditions permit) to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Enjoy an inclusive lunch at the Two Ocean Restaurant, taking in fabulous views at Cape Point. Visit the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach near Simonstown before returning to your hotel/guest house for dinner on your own account.

Day 4: Cape Town / Hermanus

Enjoy a visit to the child-friendly Spier Wine Farm which is home to a Cheetah Outreach educational program. By afternoon, depart the Winelands and enjoy a scenic drive to the coastal town of Hermanus where you will check in to your accommodations. Lunch and dinner on own account today.

Day 5: Hermanus

June-Nov only) of southern right whales as they explore the protected waters in Walker Bay. In recent years, as many as 2,000 whales have followed the annual migration from Antarctica to mate and calve in the warmer waters of the southern Cape coast. After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a guided morning tour around Hermanus with optional add-ons (additional costs apply) of a whale watching excursion (in season), or for those more daring, a great white shark cage diving experience. Day 6: Hermanus / Oudtshoorn

This town with its wide open spaces and broad streets is the capital of the Klein Karoo and famous for hundreds of ostrich farms in the area. Arrive at your accommodation by late afternoon and spend the remainder of the evening relaxing in the quaint surroundings. Lunch and dinner on own account today.

Day 7: Oudtshoorn

After lunch (own account), the afternoon will be spent at the Cango Wildlife Ranch, an endangered species breeding facility, home to cheetah, lion, nile crocodile, ring-tailed lemurs, snakes, birds, and much more. Return to your accommodation for dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 8: Oudtshoorn / Knysna

Get an introduction to the life cycle and many uses of these fascinating birds before driving around the farm to see them in person. After lunch (own account) depart Oudtshoorn with your private driver/guide to the scenic seaside town of Knysna. Check into your accommodations and spend the rest of the afternoon/evening exploring the area on your own. Dinner on own account this evening.

Day 9: Knysna

Transfer privately to the dock departure point for a short ferry ride to the privately-owned reserve, a South African Heritage Site situated on the Western Head of Knysna. Once ashore, you will be guided and driven to the high point of the reserve for breathtaking views before an optional walk back down through milkwood forests, steep sandstone cliffs, ancient Khoi Khoi sea caves, and scenic coastal paths. Enjoy an inclusive buffet lunch at the reserve before returning to Knysna by late afternoon. The balance of the day is yours to explore or relax. Dinner on own account this evening.

Day 10: Knysna / Plettenberg Bay

Check-out and depart with your private guide/driver from Knysna a short distance to Plettenberg Bay. Check into your accommodations shortly after mid-day for lunch (own account) with time on own to choose to relax or explore the small community of Plettenberg Bay, the Birds of Eden Sanctuary (own account), or one of the lovely nearby beaches, including NatureÂs Valley Beach. Dinner on own account this evening.

Day 11: Plettenberg Bay

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options After breakfast at your accommodation, depart with your private guide to the nearby Elephant Sanctuary for an educational program and up-close interaction with these majestic animals, including a Âhand in trunk walk. After lunch (own account) spend the afternoon next door at Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, a top eco-tourism spot on the Garden Route. The sanctuary is home to a variety of free-roaming primates, ranging from the gibbons of Asia to the lemurs of Madagascar. Return to your accommodation by afternoon for dinner (own account) and overnight.

Day 12: Plettenberg Bay / Eastern Cape Private Game Reserve

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options After breakfast and check-out, depart with your private guide/driver from Plettenberg Bay and drive through beautiful coastal scenery to Port Elizabeth where you will bid farewell to the Garden Route and drive to your Eastern Cape Private Game Reserve. Upon arrival, your private guide will leave you in the capable hands of the lodgeÂs rangers/staff and return to Cape Town. Settle into your Safari Lodge accommodations and enjoy lunch before departing on your first Âopen vehicle game drive late this afternoon. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Days 13-14: Eastern Cape Game Private Game Reserve

Deluxe Hotel Options | Premium Hotel Options Two full days will be spent on safari in a private game reserve, enjoying early morning and late afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles from the lodge. All meals are included at the Lodge. Search for big game, such as lion, elephant, and rhino, as well as plains game and a variety of colorful birdlife.

Day 15: Eastern Cape Game Reserve / Port Elizabeth / Johannesburg or Cape Town

Depart early this morning on your final game drive followed by brunch before checking out of the lodge. Transfer by road to the Port Elizabeth airport to check-in for your flight to either Johannesburg or Cape Town.
