Itinerary

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Nairobi, Kenya

Norfolk Hotel Arrive in Nairobi where you are met by a representative and transferred to your hotel.

Day 3: Nairobi/Amboseli National Park

Tortilis Camp After breakfast this morning, board your flight to Amboseli National Park, where your safari begins. Famous for its big game and superb views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, spend your first afternoon in the park viewing this spectacular area. Amboseli is comprised of four basic wildlife habitats: acacia woodland, fresh water swamps, scrub brush and open plains. Combine all of these elements with the backdrop of Kilimanjaro and the park is truly a photographerÂs paradise. After your game drive, return to camp during an African sunset.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park

Tortilis Camp Spend a full day on safari. As the first rays of sunlight reflect off the white snow of Mount Kilimanjaro, you may come upon two male giraffe fighting over a female or a group of warthog running headlong with their tails raised like antennae or perhaps you will witness a lion kill. At dawn all the animals are moving, so it is the most exciting time to view wildlife. Enjoy a specially arranged visit to the renowned Amboseli Elephant Research Project, started by Dr. Cynthia Moss over 30 years ago to study elephants and their conservation. An afternoon game drive is an excellent time to look for lion and cheetah, who begin to stir from the shade and roam onto the plains in search of prey.

Day 5: Amboseli/Nairobi/Laikipia Plateau

Exclusive Mobile-Tented Camp Board a flight to the Laikipia Plateau, at the foothills of Mount Kenya. Then, drive to your exclusive camp in the scenic Northern Frontier District, where snow-capped peaks dominate the view to the south. Embodying a grand safari tradition, your intimate, mobile camp evokes the romance of days past. Take to the bush this afternoon, keeping your eyes peeled for reticulated giraffe and thin-striped GrevyÂs zebra. After dinner, sleep under the stars  safe and warm in superbly appointed tents, serenaded by the sounds of the African night.

Day 6: Laikipia Plateau

Exclusive Mobile-Tented Camp Wake to a cup of hot coffee, brought by your personal tent attendant. The morning and afternoon are spent game viewing in this undisturbed area, where eagle and vulture wheel overhead. You may set out in safari vehicles or on horseback in search of great cats, black and white rhino, elephant, oryx and dik-dik. Explore as your guide lends insight about the bush and its inhabitants, taking breaks to partake in gourmet meals and remote sundowners prepared by your attentive staff.

Day 7: Laikipia Plateau/Masai Mara Game Reserve

Sanctuary Olonana Fly across the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve and your small, solar-powered luxury camp. Set amid KenyaÂs big game country, its elegant tents have verandas overlooking a private stretch of river, where hippo wallow. Visit a wetlands preservation project in the Masai Mara, or plant a native tree as part of a local tree-planting initiative. After a late-afternoon game drive, return to camp for dinner.

Days 8-9: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Sanctuary Olonana Spend the next two days exploring the vast plains by safari vehicle. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem, the very place where the annual wildebeest migration takes place. You may always search for lion, elephant, giraffe and impala. On your final evening, join fellow travelers for a farewell dinner.

Day 10: Masai Mara/Nairobi/USA or Canada

Norfolk Hotel (dayroom) Bid farewell to your camp staff and fly back to Nairobi, where a dayroom is waiting. This evening, board your international flight.

Day 11: USA or Canada

Connect with your homebound flight.
