Heart of The Americas

Traveling though the Heart of The Americas, this tour takes you from Costa Rica in the south to Mexico in the north. We begin our adventure in San Jose, and head north to the gorgeous pacific beaches of San Juan del Sur in the relatively undiscovered Nicaragua. Climb volcanoes on Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua and enjoy the colonial feel of Granada. Onto Honduras to the splendor of Copan Ruins. Crossing into Guatemala we spend a few days exploring Antigua, Panajachel, Lake Atitlan and the famous markets of Chichicastenango. Heading north, we arrive at an ecological ranch; Finca Ixobel, where you can try caving, horse-riding, river tubing, or hiking. Then visit the great Mayan city of Tikal, hidden deep in the Guatemalan jungle where howler monkeys hang out in the tree tops. Time to head to the turquoise Caribbean coastline and white sandy beaches for a week. First stop is the very relaxed island of Caye Caulker in Belize where you can dive the Blue Hole, snorkel the local reef, or chill to your heart?s content! Then we cross into Mexico and the Riviera Maya, spending time in Playa del Carmen and the island of Isla Mujeres. Crossing the Yucatan Peninsula we make our way across Mexico, learning about the amazing history, cuisine, music and people of this fascinating country.
