Day 8 Anchorage
Head back to the big smoke and farewell the group among the bright lights of Anchorage.
Days 2-3 Denali National Park
Escape the city for Denali National Park where hiking, rafting, and scenic flights over the park and Mt McKinley, the highest mountain in North America, are all available. Jump on a bus service to head to walking trails that weave throughout the park. While enjoying the many trails keep an eye out for grizzly bears, elk, caribou, wolves and many species of birds that can be spotted freely wandering among the pristine wilderness.
Days 4-5 Wrangell-St Elias National Park
Take in views of the Alaska Range and the glacier-formed geography while journeying to Wrangell-St Elias National Park. Extensive ice fields and 100 major glaciers spill from the peaks, making this one of the most spectacular parks in Alaska. Part of a vast wilderness area, this park also forms a crossroad for three major mountain ranges - Wrangell, Chugach and St Elias - making hiking here one of the highlights of travelling through the region.
Days 6-7 Valdez
Ringed by soaring snow-capped mountains, Valdez is a very scenic spot. Tour the state's northernmost port and, if the season's right, see salmon swimming up stream. Hike to the scenic Bridal Veil and Horsetail waterfalls, discover the impressive Worthington Glacier or go on a kayak tour to Shoup Glacier.
