Take a boat trip around the Bay of Cienfuegos, and learn about Cuba?s revolutionary past at the Bay of Pigs and Santa Clara?s Che Guevara Mausoleum. Finally it's on to the delightful city of Trinidad. Explore a winding maze of quaint cobbled streets, learn how to salsa, enjoy beautiful waterfall walks, and end this exciting family adventure relaxing on the beautiful sandy beaches of Varadero.
Is it right for your family?
This is an exciting trip which combines a great mix of culture and activities. Take walks, fly through the skies on zip wires (optional), go swimming, have the opportunity to go snorkelling, try salsa dancing and spend time at the beach. Accommodation is based in comfortable hotels which include breakfast, except in Varadero where you will be staying at an all-inclusive resort. Please note, Cuba has to ration all consumer goods so things have to last and therefore may appear a little faded.
Itinerary
Days 1-2 Havana
Swinging to the beat of the rumba, Havana is unlike any other capital in the world. Get acquainted with the city and take a walk through the crumbling splendour of Havana Vieja. See the giant monuments to legendary Che Guevara and Jose Marti or visit museums and galleries to soak up some colourful Cuban culture; this city offers something for the whole family.
Day 3 Vinales
Pass by fertile valleys, limestone hills and mountains covered in forest on the way to Vinales. Stop off to visit a tobacco plantation and then choose to explore Vinales by cycling, walking or horse-riding around the area.
Day 4 Santo Tomas Caves/Pinar del Rio
Grab a torch and discover the dramatic beauty of Santo Tomas Caves, full of glittering stalagmites and stalactites. Continue on to scenic Pinar del Rio and spend the night in a unique eco-lodge.
Day 5 Cienfuegos
Arrive in the city known to the locals as the 'Pearl of the South'. Explore the colonial heart of Cienfuegos and fall in love with its relaxed Caribbean feel.
Days 6-7 Trinidad
Set sail for a morning boat trip around the beautiful Cienfuegos Bay before heading onto Trinidad. After a guided walk around the centre of town there's free time for exploration. Browse the local craft markets or hire a bike for a relaxing pedal around the area. Alternatively, head for the picture-perfect beaches of Playa Ancon to snorkel over a colourful underwater world.
Day 11 Havana
Finish the adventure back in Havana.
Days 8-10 Santa Clara/Varadero
Time for a revolutionary history lesson in Santa Clara, with a visit to the mausoleum of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. Afterwards, grab the sunscreen and hit the beaches of Varadero.
