Itinerary
Day 1 Cairo/Alexandria
Transfer from Egypt's vibrant capital to the seaside city of Alexandria. Explore the Roman catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa - one of the world's largest Roman burial sites - then head to Kom el-Dikka to admire Roman ruins and beautiful mosaics. In the evening stroll through atmospheric souqs to admire jewellery, art and handicrafts.
Day 2 Alexandria/Cairo
In the morning visit the impressive mosque of Abu Abbas al-Mursi, then appreciate the fresh, Mediterranean air at Fort Qaitbey, which rests on the remains of the legendary Pharos lighthouse. Visit the impressive Bibliotheca Alexandrina, built to hold a staggering eight million books. Soak up the atmosphere of study and scholarship at this inspirational building which also features museums, art galleries, a planetarium and laboratory. In the afternoon, return to the busy streets of Cairo.
