Accommodation on this adventure is in hotels, an overnight train and on a comfortable cruise boat. There's no strenuous activity, so the trip is open to almost any age. There are optional excursions (like camel trekking) which can be taken for those interested.
Itinerary
Days 1-2 Cairo
Energetic Cairo overflows with colour, character and culture. Kick start this adventure with a trip to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza. In the afternoon, pay a visit to the Egyptian Museum to see the golden treasures that Tutankhamun was buried with thousands of years ago.
Days 3-4 Aswan/Nile Cruise
After an overnight train journey, arrive in laidback Aswan. Take a walk around the bazaars and perhaps pick up a souvenir - leather, perfume, jewellery and clothing are all on offer. The next day, set sail on a cruise down the mighty Nile River and watch 5,000 years of culture drift by. Stop off at the magnificent temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu along the way.
Days 5-7 Luxor
Climb aboard a horse-drawn calesh and travel to the great Temples of Karnak. The following day, rise early to take an optional sunrise balloon ride over the ancient sites of this magical place - a truly breathtaking experience. Back down on earth, join the group for a donkey ride through small villages near the Valley of the Kings. Take a guided tour to learn more about these early civilisations and the incredible monuments they left behind.
Days 8-9 Cairo
Arrive back into the capital after an overnight train ride. Pick up last-minute souvenirs at Khan el-Khalili bazaar in Islamic Cairo before saying goodbye to captivating Cairo.
