Itinerary
Day 1 Marrakech
Jump into the colour and chaos of the souqs, see the Koutoubia Mosque or just kick back at the Djemma el-Fna and watch the jugglers, palm readers and orange juice squeezers vie for attention.
Day 2 Casablanca
Be sure to spend time exploring the Moorish architecture in this lively port city. A visit to the ornate Hassan II Mosque is highly recommended.
Days 3-4 Fes
Step back in time in the medieval streets of the Fes medina. Discover the pungent scents of the tanneries and drop by a ceramics factory to see potters at work.
Day 5 Moulay Idriss
Explore the ancient Roman city of Volubilis. Get an insight into Islamic pilgrimage while staying in Moulay Idriss - one of Morocco's holiest towns.
Day 6 Tangier
Travel by train to Tangier. Experience old-world sights and sounds in the kasbah and medina or rub shoulders with locals on the seaside promenade.
Days 7-8 Seville
Cross the Strait of Gibraltar and travel to Seville. Known for its fiestas, tapas and enormous Gothic cathedral, this city is scattered with remnants of the past. Maybe take the steps to the top of the cathedral's Moorish tower before an evening performance of impassioned flamenco.
Days 9-10 Granada
Discover slices of Islamic architecture around every corner in this beautiful Moorish city. Explore the old Arab quarter of Albayzin, climb the city's steep streets to Mirador San Nicolas and make time to visit the Alhambra - an ancient palace and fortress.
Days 11-13 Madrid
Reflect on modern Spain in this city's many museums or take a day trip to Toledo, a city soaked in rich culture and history.
Days 14-15 Barcelona
Hit the streets to discover Gaudi's eccentricity or get lost while wandering through the rambling Gothic Quarter.
Days 16-17 Pyrenees
Head into the great outdoors. Take a cogwheel train into Nuria Valley, then stretch legs on a hike in the picturesque Pyrenees.
Day 18 Carcassonne
Enjoy an afternoon exploring this beautiful, fortified French city. Be sure to catch an incredible sunset over Carcassonne's medieval walls.
Days 19-20 Provence
Admire Gothic architecture and discover landscapes that inspired Van Gogh on a stay in Provence. Explore nearby medieval villages and be sure to indulge in some of the delicious food and wine of this famed region.
Days 21-22 Nice
Board a train to the jewel of the French Riviera. There's plenty of time here to relax and explore the beaches, nightlife and glamour of the Cote d'Azur.
Days 23-24 Cinque Terre
Weaving past olive groves and vineyards, the walking trail that links these five hillside villages offers breathtaking views over a stunning stretch of coast. Walk the entire path or catch a train between the towns.
Days 25-26 Pisa/Florence
Travel to Pisa to marvel at its famous tower. Be sure to take time to admire the Baptistry and Duomo here too. Continue on to Florence, a haven for art-lovers and the perfect place to learn about some of history's greatest artists.
Day 27 Siena
Home to an abundance churches, museums and a wealth of art, there is plenty to see in enchanting Siena. Make time to visit Piazza del Campo, the historic centre of Siena and the home of the biannual Palio horse race.
Days 28-29 Rome
Step back in time at the Colosseum, admire the Pantheon, toss a coin in Trevi Fountain or raise a glass of vino in Piazza Navona to toast the end of this adventure.
