Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi
Dive into Kenya's busy capital.
Day 2 Lake Nakuru
Listen out for the chatter of black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops above Lake Nakuru.
Days 3-4 Eldoret/Kampala
Meet local children and their families at the Kariandusi School Trust project and lend a hand teaching or doing some construction work. Enter Uganda and camp near Kampala.
Days 5-6 Kibale Forest National Park
Walk with the chimps in equatorial rainforest.
Day 7 Queen Elizabeth National Park
Embark on exciting game drives to try and spot elephants, lions and antelope. Hop on a boat and cruise the Kazinga Channel where fish eagles soar and hippos wallow.
Day 8 Lake Bunyonyi
One of the best ways to enjoy the scenery here is to hire a traditional dugout canoe and glide across the lake's surface.
Days 9-11 Gorilla Trek
Cross the border into Rwanda. With a guide, hike through rugged terrain and encounter rare mountain gorillas. Head out on rainforest hikes to glimpse other native species then pay respects at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Day 12 Lake Mburo
Back in Uganda, camp overnight on the shores of Lake Mburo.
Days 13-14 Jinja
Enjoy a dawn walking safari, then travel to Jinja - the perfect place to enjoy adrenaline-pumping adventure sports.
Days 15-16 Eldoret/Nairobi
Pass through Eldoret once more on the way back to Nairobi.
Day 17 Arusha
Explore this market town nestled in the foothills of an active volcano.
Day 18 Karatu
Visit a small village and learn about the local way of life. Spend the night in Karatu, gateway to the Serengeti.
Days 19-20 Serengeti National Park
Survey this landscape of rolling savanna and acacia trees. Go on safari in search of the park's many creatures and camp deep in the bush.
Day 21 Ngorongoro Crater
Descend into the giant volcanic Ngorongoro Crater to look for its abundant wildlife, and perhaps spy Africa's iconic Big Five.
Day 22 Marangu
Visit the Amani Children's Home, an inspirational school for underprivileged kids.
Days 23-24 Usambara Mountains
Take a walking tour of a village and get a firsthand look into the daily lives of the Chagga people. Try a typical Chagga meal before heading to the Usambara Mountains.
Day 25 Dar es Salaam
Journey to Tanzania's balmy port city and camp overnight at a beach on the outskirts of town.
Days 26-28 Zanzibar
Jump on a ferry to discover Africa's famed 'Spice Island'. Take a tour aromatic plantations and perhaps relax with a book on perfect, white-sand beaches.
Day 29 Dar es Salaam
The adventure ends as the ferry from Zanzibar returns to the mainland.
