Itinerary
Day 1 Madrid
Spain's capital boasts stunning architecture, beautiful parks, and fascinating museums and art galleries.
Day 2 Salamanca
Pass by the quirky Casa de las Conchas, then polish up on some 'pure' Spanish in this city surrounded by rolling, green hills.
Days 3-4 Coimbra
Enter Portugal and indulge in spicy cuisine, locally made cheese and rich, red wine.
Days 5-6 Lisbon
Spend the day exploring the sights of this seaside city, including the the medieval Citadel. In the evening, dance the night away with the locals in Bairro Alto.
Days 7-8 The Algarve
Journey to the stunning coastline of southern Portugal. Feel the warm glow of the sun, admire whitewashed buildings, relax on golden beaches and take a dip in the deep, blue sea.
Day 9 Jerez
Leave Portugal behind for the hills of Andalucia in Spain. Stop by the historic town of Jerez and pay a visit to a bodega to sample some top-quality sherry.
Days 10-11 Chefchaouen
Cross the border into Africa and step into a world where Moroccan and Andalucian influences collide. Admire the striking white and blue houses of Chefchaouen, shop for handicrafts and appreciate the idyllic surroundings of this tranquil town.
Days 12-13 Fes
Explore the labyrinthine alleyways of the medina and enjoy a dusky sunset accompanied by the melodic call to prayer.
Days 14-15 Marrakech
Be enticed by the alluring scents of the spice markets, mingle with the performers at Djemaa el-Fna or sip mint tea with locals in magnificent Marrakech.
Day 16 Aroumd
Travel to Imlil and head off to explore the High Atlas Mountains. Walk to the remote village of Aroumd to receive warm welcomes from friendly locals, then spend the night in a mountain gite with awesome views.
Day 17 Ait Benhaddou
Discover the grand kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, which has featured in many films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Look out from its zenith and marvel at the stark desert landscapes surrounding the area.
Day 18 Zagora
Embark on a journey towards the mighty Sahara, through the lush Draa Valley and on to Zagora - a small oasis town perfect for an overnight stop.
Day 19 Sahara Camp
Traverse rugged mountain ranges and cross seas of sand dotted with the occasional oasis of date palms. Investigate an ancient library filled with manuscripts and discover the green-glazed pottery of Tamegroute. Ride camels across the dunes at dusk and spend the night under the stars.
Day 20 Taroudannt
Drive through superb desert scenery and try to spot tree-climbing goats on the way to the rose-coloured market town of Taroudannt.
Days 21-22 Essaouira
Head to this coastal town and soak up the crisp sea breezes and relaxed pace of life. Be spoilt at a hamam, shop for finely crafted souvenirs, take a dip in the ocean or have a go at windsurfing.
Days 23-24 Marrakech
Get lost in the mayhem of the medina or take respite from the bustle of the city in the tropical grounds of Jardin Majorelle. Perhaps enjoy a final Moroccan feast to celebrate the adventure.
