Adventure through the Atlas Mountains on a Trek that takes you through lush valleys and rugged mountain passes, past holy shrines and ancient village tribes. Experience the remote existence of the Berber, and their life in the highest settlement in North Africa at Tacheddirt. Scramble along the Tizi n'ou Attar pass and witness the amazing panorama of the Atlas Mountain ranges. Return to the riads of Marrakech and relax as the sun sets beyond the hustle and bustle.
Itinerary
Days 1-2 Marrakech
Arrive in mystical Marrakech and spend free time exploring the bustling souqs and sampling local cuisine.
Days 3-4 Aremd
Drive into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. The vast plains of Marrakech give way to the foothills of the ranges at the village of Imlil. Continue to Aremd where the trek to Toubkal begins. Reach the unspoiled Berber village of Aremd, where a gravity-defying kasbah clings dramatically to the side of the mountain. Enjoy the hospitality of the locals with a night at a traditional Berber lodge. Trek further into the Mizane Valley and ascend towards the Toubkal summit, stopping to visit the holy shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. Return to Aremd and relax after the hike.
Day 5 Tacchedirt
Meet endearing mule porters and begin continue the ascent. Head to the village of Tinerhoiune, then continue to Tacheddirt, the highest permanently inhabited village in North Africa
Day 6 Oukaimeden
Trek the steep ascent to reach Oukaimeden. Pass along the Tizi nou Addi and admire the views from this spectacular vantage point. Take in distant peaks on the horizon, and feel invigorated by the clear mountain air. Amble across the impressive Angour ridges and follow the picturesque descent into Oukaimeden.
Days 7-8 Marrakech
Return to the flair of Marrakech with free time to explore the ancient rambling medina. Absorb the aromas of the spice markets and thread between the sprawling souqs to pick up some fresh produce. Listen to Moroccos enchanting call to prayer and unwind in this city as the sun sets.
