Itinerary
Day 1 Marrakech
There's hardly a city in the world more stirring than Marrakech. Let the senses go wild in the Djemaa el-Fna, where African drums keep time to an intoxicating symphony of haggling, singing and dancing.
Day 2 Titoula
Journey up into the High Atlas, via the rugged Tizi n'Tichka road. Take the first steps along rocky mountain trails, spying Berber villages and enjoying the fresh, mountain air.
Day 3 Telouet
Trek deeper into the Atlas, where the ochre stripes of sedimentary rock streak across the valley. Descend into a lush river valley and see the ruins of the Glaoua Fortress kasbah. Sip a 'whisky berbere' at Auberge camp or take a guided tour of the kasbah.
Day 4 Assaka
Hike another lofty mountain pass to reach a startling lunar-like landscape. See shepherds and their herds roaming amid the sparse vegetation, and trek onwards to the welcoming gate at Assaka.
Day 5 Tizgui
Snake through the canyon under rocky ledges, discover a palm-tree lined gorge and spot villages perched atop the valley. Stop to taste the salt walls en route to Tizgui.
Day 6 Ait Ben Haddou
Enjoy an exciting day on a mule trail crossing rivers and scaling boulders. Admire ochre cliffs against a blue sky and the crumbling kasbah of the Glaoua. Arrive at Ait Benhaddou and relax poolside.
Days 7-8 Marrakech
Arise early to see a spectacular sunrise over Ait Benhaddou and set off to explore the site. Return to the hustle and bustle of magical Marrakech and perhaps join the crowds at the medina to haggle for a bargain or enjoy a tasty Moroccan meal to celebrate the trip.
