Ride through Morocco's exotic south on this scenic ride through the lush oases of the Draa Valley, and through the imposing volcanic gateway of Bab 'n'Ali. Visit isolated Berber settlements, pass by ancient and mysterious Kasbahs, and ride the ridgeways of the spectacular Atlas Mountains. Explore the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and be seduced by the magnetism of Marrakech. Cycling through this incredible country is an exhilarating adventure, and the perfect way to get off the beaten track in Morocco!
Itinerary
Day 1 Ouarzazate
Arrive in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate where the cycling adventure begins. Enjoy a free afternoon exploring this quirky gateway to the desert, perhaps visiting a local market to stock up on supplies.
Day 3 Draa Valley & Zagora
Continue cycling through the fertile Draa Valley, passing mystical kasbahs that dot the terrain along the way. Zigzag between the winding valley walls before arriving at the captivating town of Tansikht. Rest weary legs as the trip continues with a drive to Zagora, which borders the desert and is famously only 52 days by camel to Timbuktu!
Days 4-5 Jebel Sahro
Ride to the rugged and remote Jebel Sahro before climbing aboard the 4x4s for an adventure to the tiny oasis village of Nkob. A challenging cycle the next day out into the wilderness to reach Tizi n'Tazazert rewards with a breathtaking view at the summit.
Day 6 Atlas Mountains
The cycling adventure continues along the ridges of the Atlas Mountains, through the undulating territory of Dades Gorge and up a steep climb to the rocky peak. Drive to the 11th-century Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou and relish time out of the saddle to explore this UNESCO site - famous for being the backdrop to several Hollywood blockbusters.
Days 7-8 Marrakech
Travel finally to Marrakech and enjoy a free day to explore the labyrinth of souqs, treat those hard-working legs with a relaxing visit to a hamam or enjoy a final feast of tasty tajine.
Day 2 Tamnougalt
After transferring to Tizi n'Tinififft, jump on the bikes and brave the gritty descent on a ride down to a secluded oasis for a lunch break. Travel through lush palmeries and remote villages, passing local Berber tribes along the way, to arrive in Agdz.
