Itinerary
Days 1-2 Bangkok
Get acquainted with Bangkok on a walk through its bustling streets. Discover colourful markets, tranquil temples and delicious hawker-style food. For a break from the tuk-tuks and traffic, why not take a longtail boat through the khlongs? Then it's all aboard the overnight train bound for Chiang Mai.
Day 3 Chiang Mai
Sharpen bargaining skills at Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar, cycle into the countryside or climb the dragon staircase to the Doi Suthep temple.
Days 4-6 Hilltribe Trek
Hike into the northern hills for a unique glimpse of rural Thailand and meet smiling locals on the way. At night, experience a slice of hilltribe life, staying in a village hut.
Day 7 Chiang Mai
Pick up last-minute mementos, indulge in a massage or continue to temple-hop before boarding the train back to Bangkok.
Days 8-9 Bangkok
Back in the fast-paced capital, there are plenty more palaces and temples to explore.
Days 10-11 Khao Sok National Park
After an overnight train journey it's time to go wild in the thick jungles of Khao Sok. Roam beneath the shady canopy, cool off under waterfalls or trek one of the jungle paths.
For trips May-Oct (East Coast)... Days 12-13 Ko Samui
Kick back on the white sands, laze beneath palm trees, swim in warm waters or sip a Singha beer while watching the sunset from one of the world's favourite island getaways.
Days 14-17 Ko Tao
The tiny island of Ko Tao is famous for its clear waters and unspoilt reefs teeming with colourful marine life. Slip on some scuba gear and go for a dive or wander along the beaches to see fishermen hard at work.
For trips Nov-Apr (West Coast)... Days 12-13 Ko Lanta
Swap the sounds of the jungle for the turquoise waters lapping at the shores of Ko Lanta. Kayak, snorkel, swim or laze on the white, sandy beach.
Days 14-17 Ao Nang/Krabi
Back on the mainland there's plenty of free time for exploration. Spend time snorkelling over colourful coral or climb the steps up a limestone karst to see what is said to be the footprint of Buddha.
Day 18 Bangkok
Return to this vivacious city after an overnight train ride. Check out its shopping malls, thumping nightlife and gourmet delights.
