Day 1 Hanoi/Mai Chau
Escape the hectic pace of life in the Vietnamese capital and travel to the clean air of the mountains surrounding the Mai Chau valley. Stop along the way for photo opportunities of lush panoramas. Arrive into Mai Chau and continue on to the village of Pom Coong. Meet the local hosts and learn about the region's people, their lifestyles, customs and culture. This is a great opportunity to gain a unique insight into life in this corner of Vietnam. Be sure to bring an appetite as lunch will be a traditional affair with many delicious local cuisines on offer. Burn off lunch on an afternoon bike ride through nearby villages, stopping to take photos and chat with the locals. Then it's time to relax, take in a sunset over the nearby mountains and toast an amazing day with a cold drink.
Day 2 Mai Chau Trekking/Hanoi
Start the day with a hearty breakfast in preparation for the day's trekking. The people that live in this region are from the White Thai minority group, and there'll be an opportunity to visit a number of villages and learn more about their lifestyles, culture and customs with a local guide. While the trekking is not overly strenuous, a good pair of trekking shoes is recommended. Be sure to stop along the way to capture the moment and to soak up the pristine scenery. Return back to the homestay for lunch before hitting the road back to Hanoi where this adventure ends on arrival.
